Richard Stoltzman

Richard Stoltzman is a concert artist who is highly sought after for his musicianship, virtuosity and sheer personality magnetism. This two-time Grammy Award Winner has been a soloist with more than 100 orchestras, a compelling recitalist, a prolific recording artist, and an innovator in jazz. He has also won numerous Grammy Awards. Stoltzman has a unique approach to the clarinet that has earned him international recognition. He has opened up new possibilities for the instrument that no one could imagine. He was the first to give clarinet recitals at the Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall and the Avery Fisher Prize. He has recorded or performed with jazz and pop legends such as Gary Burton, Chick Corea and Judy Collins, Keith Jarrett and the King’s Singers. Many premieres have been made possible by his dedication to new music, including the critically acclaimed clarinet pieces written for him by Steve Reich and Einojuhani Rautavaara, Stephen Hartke, Yehudi Wyner, Toru Takemitsu, Stephen Hartke, Stephen Hartke, and Stephen Hartke. Stoltzman was a Marlboro Music Festival participant for ten years. He then became a founding member the well-known ensemble TASHI which debuted in 1973. Richard Stoltzman has over 70 recordings to his credit. His most recent release, “Resolve”, was released by PARMA in 2014. It features Hindemith’s works. Grammy(r) Awards have been won for his recordings of the Brahms sonatas with Richard Goode and Trios Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms with Yo Yo Ma and Emanuel Ax. He also appeared in Michael Lawrence’s documentary, “Bach.”
