Robert Stewart

Robert Stewart, an Oakland, CA native, was one of the most prominent hard-bop tenor saxophonists of the 1990s. He didn’t even start playing the instrument until he was 17. However, he became so engrossed in the music of Coleman Hawkins and Ben Webster that he developed his own tone. Stewart made his debut with Judgement in 1994. He returned one year later with In the Gutta. Allmusic
