Roberto Vally

He was a prodigious learner of the electric bass and joined many neighborhood bands. Roberto began playing for block parties, church dances, and other events at the age of 11. This was when he became “pro” and began his long, masterful career as a bassist and songwriter. A BREAK HISTORY… Roberto was highly influenced by the vast array of musical styles he had been exposed to during his childhood in New York City. His musical repertoire included classic, jazz, Latin, Funk and soul music. Roberto has a vast repertoire that has grown over the years from his many performances and travels with well-known artists all around the globe. Roberto is a world-class musician and bass player, thanks to his musicality, innate groove and global playing experience. Many will also attest that he has a big heart. Roberto, despite his poor conduct grades, was often seen in “band room” with young Roberto. He received the Music Honor Award from his junior high school. Roberto knew he wanted to study music. He attended New York City’s famed High School of Music and Art from 1975 to 1978. From 1976-1978, he continued his studies in music theory and classical basses at the highly-respected Julliard School. He was mentored there by Homer Mensch, a prominent classical bassist and professor. FUNK AND FUN ON The ROAD…Roberto enjoyed every moment of his bass education but eventually felt the “itch” for performing and taking his bass skills to the road. He was approached by an R in 1979.
