Rolf Sturm

Rolf’s playing of the guitar has been praised by Joe Pass, Jim Hall and John Abercrombie. Over 60 CDs feature him, including recordings featuring Tony Trischka and Loudon Wainwright as well as Anthony Braxton, David Johansen and John Medeski, Billy Martin. He is a member of a duo with Jenna Mammina, singer. He is also a member of Tomas Ulrich’s Cargo Cult and co-leads “Tricycle”, a NYC trio. Rolf is also part of the “Strike Anywhere Performance Ensemble”, and the “Walter Thompson Orchestra”. Rolf has performed at numerous jazz, jam band/rock and folk festivals in the United States, Canada, France, Italy and Belgium as well as the Netherlands, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria and Hungary. He has performed at Lincoln Center and Town Hall in NYC as well as at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC. His music has been featured in National Public Radio’s All Songs Considered. He has also appeared on soundtracks for television and film. His solo guitar recording “Balance”, received 4 stars in DownBeat magazine. Rolf received a BFA degree in Jazz Guitar from Ithaca College.
