Roy Assaf

New York-based jazz composer and pianist Roy Assaf. He was born in Beer Sheba and studied at Tel Aviv Conservatory as well as Berklee College of Music. In May 2008, he earned an MA from Manhattan School of Music. He was among 21 people to be awarded the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers Young Jazz Composer Award for 18-29 years old in 2008. Assaf also received the 31st Down Beat Student Award for Outstanding Perform, 2nd place at the Charlie Palmieri Memorial piano Competition, Eubie Blake National Jazz Institute Award and America Israel Cultural Foundation Prize for Young Israeli Musicians. He was also awarded the 30th Down Beat Student Award for the Best Jazz Arrangement. from
