Russell Gunn, an American Neo-bop jazz musician was born October 20, 1971 in Chicago. He is best known for his trumpet playing and Grammy nominated album, Ethnomusicology vol. 1. He grew up playing the trumpet in East St. Louis, Illinois. His first musical interest was hip-hop with LL Cool J as his idol. His current projects include Bionic, a large ensemble that released a record titled Krunk Jazz, and Electrik Butterfly, a smaller group. Gunn’s 2007 album Russell Gunn plays Miles featured some of Miles Davis’s greatest hits. From Wikipedia
