Born in Europe, Saheb Sarbib, bassist, arrived in New York around 1977-1978. Although he has not received much publicity, he has made several noteworthy records as a leader of both big bands and quartets. His albums have been released on the Soul Note and Cadence labels. Sarbib is a great bassist but he has also been a avant-garde leader. Allmusic
