Sam And The Soul Machine

There will always be a treasure trove of forgotten gems and funk classics in every major and minor hub of soul music. New Orleans is a great example of this, with a lineage that includes undiscovered funk talent comparable to any major U.S. metropolis in the 1970s. The Funky Delicacies campaign is reissued this particular era. This release focuses on Sam Henry, the keyboardist and leader of the Soul Machine. It covers 1968-1974. This 18-song compilation is chock-full with funk delights. It will satisfy beat junkies and crate diggers alike. The performances are excellent and include some of New Orleans’ most overlooked and underrated musicians. Although it’s not recommended for casual funk fans, diehards will be happy to know that treasures from another city have been unearthed and can easily justify shelf space in their collections.
