Sarah Buechi

Sarah Buechi was born in a musical family. She began playing the piano and violin at age five. After receiving an award for her self-written musical theatre, she decided to pursue music as a career. After receiving two distinctions from Lucerne’s prestigious Musikhochschule, she spent a long sabbatical in Bangalore, immersed in South Indian Classical Music, and Rhythm, with concerts on radio, television, and festivals. It is evident in her ability to use the complex rhythmic and vocal techniques within a Jazz context. THALi, one of her projects, is what brought Sarah Buechi, an intern at the Swiss Jazz Scene, to international musical collaborations and to be able to work with exceptional personalities such as Dave Liebman and Lucas Niggli. She was able to travel across Europe, China, India, USA, Canada, China, and China for workshops, concerts, and tours. Sarah was the head of the Jazz vocal section at Newpark Music Centre in Dublin for four years. She currently lives in London, and is a student at the Complete Vocal Institute in Copenhagen. In Switzerland in 2005 she was awarded the Friedl-Wald-Foundation prize and three times she was awarded the Irish Travel and Training award for musical researches in Ghana, Paris, New York and Copenhagen. http://www.sarahbuechi.com
