Saul Rubin

Saul Rubin is a mainstay of the New York jazz scene. He graduated from Hartt School of Music where he studied composition. He also studied jazz with Jackie McLean and Paul Jeffrey before returning home to New York. His soulful and virtuosic jazz playing has been heard by many of the greatest jazz musicians around the world, including Sonny Rollins (touring Europe and the US), Roy Hargrove, (he arranged the Roy Hargrove Big band album Emergence (Verve 2009), and has toured extensively throughout Europe, Canada and Japan), Renee Fleming and Paul Cranshaw. Zeb’s was established in 2009 in New York’s Chelsea loft. It is a space for performance and recording where many artists have performed and recorded. He started curating a weekly jazz vocal series in 2010, which featured and accompanied such stars as Roseanna Vitro and Gregory Porter. He has been producing the NYC Jazz Guitar Festival for three years. It features some of the best jazz guitarists in the world, such as Gene Bertoncini and Bucky Pizzarelli. He has performed at many venues, including the Blue Note in Tokyo and New York, Dizzy’s Club Coca Cola and Fat Cat, Smalls and Mezzrow. He has also recorded for other artists and released two albums, The Saul Rubin Quartet (2004) featuring John Hicks and Gerald Cannon, and Saul Rubin The Zebtet (Red Records 2015), featuring Stacy Dillard and JohnnyO’Neal. http://www.saulrubin.com
