Scope

Scope, a progressive rock group, was established in Zwolle (The Netherlands) in 1971. Henk Zomer (drums), and Rik Elings (1st, keyboards, flute) founded the band. They had met in high school when they were both part of Strange Power. They recorded two singles under this name in 1971, “That’s The Way/Turn Me Loose” (Tenderfoot/Spring). They were renamed Scope after Rens Nieuwland (guitar), and Erik Raayman(bass guitar). They played a lot in Germany and The Netherlands over the next few years. They record their debut album in Germany for Negram, a Dutch label. 1974 saw the addition of Rob Franken (keyboards), Raayman joins Medusa and Elings moves to bass guitar. They record their second album with this lineup, also in Germany. Robert Vink replaces Zomer for a brief time in 1976. Roland Zeldenrust is the next drummer. Pablo Nahar, a bass player, joins the band in the same year. These changes resulted in the end of the band’s existence in 1976.
