Sefi Zisling

Sefi Zisling, Tel Aviv’s jazz and funk trumpeter, is an integral part of the Tel Aviv music scene. Sefi began playing the trumpet when he was just 10 years old. He then enrolled in Thelma Yellin’s prestigious art school. Sefi, who has been performing in a variety of bands since his teens, has recorded and performed with nearly every major player in Israel’s jazz scene. Sefi is a master of trumpeting and has evolved into a composer and producer. Sefi’s debut album, Beyond The Things I Know, was released on Raw Tapes, Tel Aviv’s top collective. It was championed and promoted by Gilles Peterson (BBC 6Music), Stamp The Wax and Toshio Matsuura, (Worldwide FM), Radio Nova, Twistedsoul), and others. ‘Expanse” features lead-song “Happy Solar Return ft. Kutiman”, which is a nine-minute afrobeat voyage that takes listener to various moods and phases. ‘Expanse’ is a tribute to his childhood heroes, John Coltrane and Fred Wesley. It combines the sounds afro-jazz with psychedelic funk, spiritual jazz, and afro-jazz to create an album that echoes those of Alice Coltrane and Donald Byrd. from https://tru-thoughts.co.uk
