Simone Gubbiotti, guitarist, is a well-known musician in Europe and the USA. Simone is based in Umbria, Italy. He regularly visits the USA where he performs alongside musicians such as Sid Jacobs and Joe La Barbera. Simone began his professional soccer career at AC Milan, one of the top Italian soccer clubs. Simone, who suffered a severe knee injury in his 24th year, decided to refocus and pursue a career as a musician. Simone studied jazz guitar in his home country of Italy, and then continued his studies at the Berklee college for Music and the G.I.T. in Los Angeles. Simone has been a leader and sideman throughout Europe and the United States. However, Simone’s rise to fame has come about since signing with Dot Time Records in New York. Simone’s first recordings as a leader were “Tracce di Eoni”, (feat. The first two releases by Simone as a leader, “Tracce di Eoni” (feat. Joe La Barbera) and “The Hammon Trio”, (feat. Joe Bagg), were well received by both the public and the press. Simone’s latest album, “Promise to a Friend”, (2012) is out on Dot Time Records. It features 10 original compositions. Darek Oles plays double bass and Peter Erskine drums. Bennie Maupin and Scott Henderson, Gabriele Mirabaassi, Bennie Maupin, Jonathan Kreisberg and Tomaso Lama were some of his workshop participants. Joe Lovano, John Abercrombie, Joe Lovano and Siena Jazz were also among them. Simone was an educator and assisted Joe Diorio and Sid Jacobs.
