Sound Prints (joe Lovano & Dave Douglas)

The Joe Lovano/Dave Douglas quintet Sound Prints was named after Wayne Shorter’s iconic composition “Footprints”. It is a collaboration ensemble that resulted from their participation in the 2008 SFJAZZ Collective tribute concert to the legendary jazz saxophonist Shorter. In an effort to keep the creative spark that was ignited at that event’s conclusion, Lovano, saxophonist, and Douglas, trumpeter, created a group that would perform original compositions as well as material by Shorter.
