Special Others

Special Others is a Japanese band which combines improvised jazz and post-rock influences. The lyrics of their songs are non-instrumental and mix English with Japanese. This is often a difficult combination to understand. The band was formed in 1995 by members who met at high school. Their first major release, Indy-Ann (the band’s first major release), was released in 2000. It remained on the CRJ-tokyo charts seven weeks. The EP “Ben”, their first release on NMNL Records, reached No. 1 in the Tower Records Shibuya Indie Chart. 1, and No. 2. 2, in the national Tower Records charts. The band performed at the Fuji Rock Festival in August 2005 after releasing their second EP “Uncle John” in June 2005. They released “Idol” in June 2006. This was followed by a sold-out show at Daikanyama UNIT, in July, and “Aims”, at Tower Records, in October. Then, on November 22, they released their long-awaited debut full-length album, “Good Morning”. They toured Japan with Asian Kung-Fu Generation in late 2006. The band also made guest appearances at five shows across Japan. From Wikipedia
