Andrzej Chochol was raised in Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski in a musical family. As a teenager, he began to take guitar seriously and continues to be passionate about music. Stan d’Art was born in 1983. Andrzej Galon, a university friend, founded the band. They invited Marian Zych, Wlodzimierz Kniorski and Leszek Dziarek into the band. Stan d’Art won the Komeda Festival Prize in Warsaw in 1985 and the Grand Prix at Jazz nad Odra in 1986. The Jazz Forum magazine Jazz Top poll ranked the band and its members as the top performers. From 1985 to 1987, Andrzej Chochol was regarded as one of the best Polish jazz guitarists. Stan d’Art’s first album was released in 1987 by Polskie Nagrania, Polish Records.
