Stanton Moore

Stanton Moore, a drummer for rock, was born in Metairie (La.). Moore is most well-known as the founding member of Galactic. However, he has also had a solo recording career. His 1998 album All Kooked Out was his first record. He has recorded with a variety of bands, including Robert Walter (jazz-funk keyboardist) and Corrosion Of Conformity (heavy metal band). Moore also travels to New Orleans to teach drumming and writes regular columns for drumming magazines. He also publishes instructional books and videos. Moore has been involved in several recent projects, including the Stanton Moore Trio and Garage A Trois. Moore performs in New Orleans with his Stanton Moore Trio, which includes a number of visiting and local musicians. He has toured the country with Robert Walter, guitarist, and Will Bernard as a trio. Walter and Bernard were also the musicians on Moore’s most recent solo albums. Moore performs with Garage A Trois, Skerik Dillon, Mike Dillon, and Marco Benevento. Moore and Kevin O’Day organized the all-star brass band Midnite Disturbers. Trombone Shorty, Jamelle Williams, Big Sam, and Mark Mullins play trumpets. Skerik, Ben Ellman, and Skerik are on trombones. Jeffery Hills plays sousaphone. Moore and Moore are on drums. Dragon Smoke, MG5, and other bands are also involved in ongoing collaborations. Dragon Smoke is Eric Lindell, Robert Mercurio and Ivan Neville. MG5 (formerly Frequinox), features Robert Walter and Robert Mercurio, Will Bernard. Donald Harrison, Jeff Coffin, Stanton Moore, and Will Bernard. Moore participated in and helped to start the Tipitina’s Foundation workshop, which offers young people the opportunity to play, learn and perform with professional musicians, since Hurricane Katrina. Moore recently collaborated with Tom Morello from Rage Against the Machine, and Boots Riley from the Coup to create a new project called Street Sweeper Social Club. The album was released on June 16, 2009. Moore released Emphasis! Stanton Moore Trio released Emphasis! (On Parenthesis) in April 2008 on Telarc. Robert Walter and Will Bernard are long-time friends. California Stanton Moore, a New Orleans-based brand, introduced a new model snare drum at the 2009 Winter NAMM Show. It measures 4.5 inches x 14 inches and is made from titanium. Stanton collaborated closely with Ronn Dunnett (Dunnett Classic Drums), to create a drum that captured the sounds of Stanton’s old vintage snare drum. Moore also co-owns the Crescent Cymbals brand, and has his own cymbal line. Modern Drummer Stanton Moore was the winner of the Reader Polls in Educational Book and Educational DVD categories.
