State Street Ramblers

The State Street Ramblers weren’t a band, but a series recording sessions that were led by Jimmy Blythe. Although the personnel changed over time, many of Chicago’s finest South Side musicians took part in the sessions. All sides were recorded in Richmond, Indiana at the Gennett Studio. These records were released under various pseudonyms. They were known as the Chicago Stompers and Blythe’s Blue Boys on the Champion label. They were known as the Johnny Dodds Four on Paramount.
