Stephane Kerecki

Stephane Kerecki studied Economics in Paris and then enrolled at the National Conservatory of Music and Dance of Paris. There he studied Double bass with Jean-Francois Jenny-Clark and Riccardo De Fra. He joined Steve Potts’s band and was a member the Paris Jazz Big Band. Stephane gained fame playing with the bands of Denis Colin and Guillaume de Chassy as well as Daniel Humair, Yaron Humair, Francois Jeanneau. He was also a member of the Paris Jazz Big Band. Jazzman listed him as one of the “125 talents to tomorrow” in 2005. Since 2003, Stephane has been leading his own trio with Matthieu Dorian and Thomas Grimmonprez, who are both saxophonists. He recorded two albums with the trio “Story Tellers”, and “Focus Danse”, for which he won many awards including the Grand Prix 2007 de l’Academie Charles Cros, Disque d’Emoi de l’annee 2007(Jazz Magazine), Choc du Monde de la Musique… Tony Malaby, an American saxophonist (Charlie Haden), Paul Motian, Daniel Humair and Michel Portal …)) to joinsa band. This CD was nominated in the instrumental revelation category for the French awards “victoires du Jazz 2009.” It has received strong support from the jazz community. The band is very active now and they play all over Europe.
