Steve Nelson

In the 1990s, Steve Nelson was one of the most promising vibraphonists. He was influenced by Milt Jack but developed his own sound. After playing in the early 1970s with Grant Green, Nelson gained valuable experience with James Spaulding and Bobby Watson. He has also played in many different settings since the 1990s. Nelson has been a leader on recordings for Crisscross, Red, Sunnyside and TCB. He has continued to record since the 1990s. His albums include New Beginnings (1999), Fuller Nelson (2004), and Sound-Effect (2007, allmusic).
