Steve Tyrell, a Grammy Award-winning singer, is truly a Renaissance man. He has enjoyed great success in his four decades of music business as a performer, producer, songwriter and music supervisor. He also performed the same performance at Carnegie Hall, at the request of his family Sinatra. It is rare that the Sinatra family has reached into their vault to share original Sinatra arrangements with another artist. After the death of Bobby Short in 2005, Steve was invited by New York City’s Cafe Carlyle, to take over the cherished Holiday Season of November/December. Mr. Short hadn’t missed it for 36 years. The Tyrell contract was extended to his 11th season in 2013. This started a new Carlyle legacy, which now includes performances in May. Andy Griffith was his co-producer on an album that won the Grammy for Gospel Album of the year in 1995. All 9 of his American Standards albums reached the top 10 on Billboard’s Jazz charts. 7 of them have reached the top 5. His first album, “A New Standard”, was one of the most popular jazz albums in over five years. His voice has been heard on TV and in many movies. He was recently asked by Oscar-winning Songwriters Alan and Marilyn Bergman, and the late Marvin Hamlisch, to sing the ending title of Steven Soderbergh’s film “The Informant”. Tyrell is a music producer and supervisor for TV and film music. He has worked with many distinguished directors, including Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg. Ray Charles, Diana Ross and Elvis Presley have recorded his songs. His song “How Do You talk To An Angel”, written and produced by Aaron Spelling for Fox’s television series “The Heights,” reached No. Billboards Top 100 Pop Charts ranked him No. 1. Tyrell is a Grammy Award recipient, has received 2 Emmy nominations and 3 Ace Nominations. He was also a 2004 American Society of Young Musician “All That Jazz Award”, The Wellness Community’s “Human Spirit Award”, The Society of Singers’ “Lifetime Achievement Award”, 2008 Los Angeles Jazz Society “Jazz Vocalist of The Year”. The Grammy Awards for which his productions were nominated total over 11,000.
