New York trumpeter Steven Bernstein served as music director at John Lurie’s Lounge Lizards. He was also co-leader with the trio Spanish Fly and was the arranger and leader for the Kansas City Band (from Robert Altman’s film and Verve All-Stars tour). Bernstein began to lead his own bands and records, such as his gritty cover band Sex Mob in which Bernstein plays slide trombone . Bernstein has a wide musical background, including the arrangement of the Oscar-nominated score for Get Shorty. He was also the musical director of Hal Willner’s projects that were devoted to music by Leonard Cohen, Doc Pomus and Bill Withers.
