Stone Alliance

Stone Alliance, a group consisting of three musicians with a long history, is currently organizing worldwide tours and recording new music. Stone Alliance is committed to being a creative force in all styles of music, including jazz, AfroCuban, rock, and pop. Stone Alliance’s roots were established in 1964, when Gene Perla joined Los Muchachos of Boston of which Don Alias is a member. Gene and Don later joined Nina Simone in New York City and Elvin Jones in New York. They met Steve Grossman, a saxophonist, through many rehearsals and founded the Stone Alliance. They went to Chile on a 15-day U.S. State Department tour, which grew into a six-month South American adventure. The group disbanded after a European tour but Gene and Don soon rebuilt it. Kenny Kirkland and Kenny Werner were also keyboardists. Bob Mintzer and Gerry Bergonzi were saxophonists. Stone Alliance, Don, Gene, and Mitch Stein are back after a long hiatus. from http://stonealliance.com
