T-bone Walker

Aaron Thibeaux Walker, also known as T-Bone Walker, Oak Cliff T-Bone, was an American blues singer, guitarist, pianist, and songwriter. He was among the most influential pioneers of electric guitar. His solos on electric guitar were some of the most popular on blues recordings today and set a standard that is still being followed. Walker is a Texas native of Cherokee and African descent. Both his parents, Rance Walker (and Movelia Jameson) were musicians. Walker married Vida Lee on March 25, 1935, and they had three children together. He died March, 1975. Walker’s 1942 recording of “Mean Old World”, for Capitol Records, gave rise to his distinctive sound. His output was largely recorded on Black between 1946-1948.
