Teri Roiger has been playing music since she was 5 years old. Teri Roiger has been making music all her life (since she was 5 years old!) and her music has seen many interesting twists and turns over the years. Teri is a jazz singer, composer, and lyricist. Since many years, she has shared her inspiration and knowledge with students at SUNY New Paltz. Her deep jazz knowledge and passion is evident in live performances, recording studios, and her compositions. Teri’s third CD, DEAR ABBEY, THE MUSIC of Abbey Lincoln, was recorded in spring 2011. It is due for release on May 1, 2012. John’s arrangements perfectly match Teri’s vocal tone and feel. The music is heartfelt and exciting, energetic, nourishing, traditional and nourishing. Frank Kimbrough plays the piano, John Menegon plays bass, and Steve Williams (of Shirley Horn fame), plays the drums. This CD is produced by Brian Bacchus and John Menegon. John and Teri produced, recorded and arranged their first CD, MISTERIOSO, several years ago. It includes jazz standards as well as original compositions. Teri’s lyrics to MISTERIOSO were approved by the Monk family. The album is now called Listen To Your Soul, with Teri’s lyrics. Teri’s highly acclaimed composition STILL LIVE is the title track to her second album. This composition was awarded third place in the jazz category of the internationally renowned International Songwriting Competition. The competition is a New York Times top-rated contest. This CD features Frank Kimbrough playing piano, Gil Goldstein playing accordion, John Menegon playing bass, and Matt Wilson playing drums. Teri taught four classes at Williams College (Williamstown MA) over a seven year period on the music of Billy Strayhorn and Thelonious Monk. Teri and John Menegon composed and recorded the music for the documentary BEYOND ICONIC, which was about Dennis Stock, in 2011. This film, directed by Hanna Sawka was shown at the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, Denver Film Festival and in New York City at doc film festival. It was among the top ten finalists of the Sao Paulo Film Festival. Teri is a key member of the SUNY New Paltz jazz program (New Paltz NY) for more than ten years. She teaches Jazz Voice, History of Jazz and Vocal Jazz Ensembles. Roiger has been a jazz musician for many years. She has performed all over the U.S.A, Canada, Mexico and Europe. John and Teri performed at the 8th Annual Panama Jazz Festival in Panama City in January 2012.
