The Avengers

ADAM HOLZMAN (keyboards), LINCOLN GOINES(bass), KIM PLAINFIELD(drums), and BELEDO [guitar] are THE AVENGERS. They are both musicians and educators. Their South American tour (2010) included performances in Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay. They also appeared at some of the most prestigious jazz festivals including Montevideo Jazz Festival and Buenos Aires Jazz Festival. Also, performances were made in Porto Alegre and Recife in Brazil, Neuquen in Argentina, and Minas in Uruguay. Original AVENGERS compositions were used in the tour’s repertoire, along with selections from Adam Holzman/Kim Plainfield’s 2010 album entitled SPORK and Lincoln Goines / Kim Plainfield’s CD, NIGHT u0026 DAY. Beledo’s MONTEVIDEO JAZZ DREAMS was also included. They also performed material from Adam Davis’s tenure. The debut CD of THE AVENGERS, ON A MISSION, has just been released (May 2012). ADAM was Miles Davis Band’s musical director in 1988. KEYBOARD Magazine ranked him among the top 10 musicians in the world. DOWNBEAT Magazine praised his “killer groove”. He has worked with Michel Petrucciani and Chaka Khan, Robben For, Wayne Shorter, Grover Washer, Chaka Khan, Robben for, Robben Ford, Wayne Shorter and Wayne Shorter. http://www.adamholzman.com LINCOLN is a faculty member of Berklee School of Music, and the Bass Collective. He has recorded and performed with a wide range of artists including Sonny Rollins (Dizzy Gillespie), Gato Barbieri and Dave Grusin. http://www.lincolngoines.com KIM’s numerous performance and recording credits include Bill Connors, Tania Maria, Didier Lockwood, The Pointer Sisters, Jon Lucien, Andy Narell, Kenny Rankin, Edgar Winter, and Bill O’Connell. Kim has also had a solo career and has been touring Europe, Japan, and the United States since 1993. His debut CD, “Night and Day”, came out in 2002. Kim’s newest recording, “Jacob’s Ladder”, will be released in spring 2011. He is an associate professor at Berklee College of Music, Boston. In addition to his role as faculty head at The Collective in NYC, he is also currently faculty head. http://www.kimplainfield.com BELEDO is considered a real myth among Uruguayan music connoisseurs. He was a guitar hero as a teenager and was featured in GUITAR PLAYER Magazine, JAZZIZ Magazine, and while playing in South America in the band, Opa with Ruben Rada, Pedro Aznar and Ruben Rada. His CD, MONTEVIDEO JAZZ DREAMS, features Stefon Harp, Randy Brecker, Manolo Badrena.
