The Budos Band is an “Instrumental Staten-Island Afro-Soul” band that records on the Daptone Records label. The band consists of eleven members, sometimes as many as thirteen, who play instrumental music that they self-describe as “Afro-Soul.” Jared Tankel, a baritone saxophone player, explained that the term was derived from Ethiopian music which had a soul undercurrent that the band “sprinkled some sweet 60’s stuff over it”. http://www.last.fm
