The group was founded in 1959 by Art Farmer and Benny Golson, with McCoy Tyner as the pianist. The group survived to 1962, when it was reborn in 1985 with Farmer u0026 Golson again in charge. It was known for its well-structured, soulful and precise pieces as well as a swinging style. Golson as well as Farmer were both able to play without excessive, but still had energy and impact.
