Robert, a pianist and composer, is joined by Michael, a trumpeter and composer. The Brothers were both born in NYC, and grew up in Miami FL. The RodBros were inspired by their father, a drummer. They began their musical training as young children and continued their education at the New World school of the Arts through high school. Robert and Michael were both awarded full scholarships to the University of Miami. Michael completed his Bachelors at New School for Jazz Studies in NYC, while Robert followed suit with his Bachelors of Jazz Studies at U of M. The RodBors have been in NYC since their arrival. Individually, they have been sidemen for Roy Haynes and Charlie Haden, Ray Barretto and Ray Palmieri, Eddy Palmieri, David Sanchez and Wynton Marsalis. In 2002, the Rodriguez Bros. band formed and recorded their first CD titled “Introducing The Rodriguez Brothers”. This recording featured original compositions that were influenced by traditional and Afro-Cuban jazz elements. The group began performing at numerous high-profile venues and festivals, including the JVC Festival in Bryant Park, Syracuse Jazz Festival and Iceland Jazz Festival. CONVERSATIONS, their second album, was received excellent reviews by Down Beat, London Financial Times and NY Times. CONVERATIONS saw The RodBros expand their musical palette with European classical music and other Caribbean rhythms, while still maintaining the jazz spirit of improvisation and swing. Their most recent recording MOOD SWING features Clarence Penn and Carlos Henriquez. It was produced by Jeff Jones (the RodBros). MOOD SWING’s compositions explore a variety of moods and aim to take listeners on a psycho-acoustic journey of exploration. This is the first of a series of three parts to be released on RODBROS MUSIC LABEL. from http://rodbrosmusic.com
