The Super Premium Band

The Super Premium Band was created in 2010 by Yasohachi “88”, a Japanese producer who collaborated with Hank Jones and his Great Jazz Trio on numerous albums. The band’s first album, Softly As In A Morning Sunrise, was released with Kenny Barron as the piano player, Ron Carter as the bassist, and Lenny White as the drummer. It received great critical acclaim. Jack DeJohnette, the legendary drummer, replaces Lenny White for the second album. He brings a new set of rhythmic textures to the group and has a different sensibility. It includes well-known New York City standards as well as three originals, each composed by Barron Carter, DeJohnette, and DeJohnette. These three jazz giants are a great example of why they are so big. The arrangements are great, the solos are inspiring and the ensemble is tight. from www.eastwindimport.com
