Since 1999, the Texas Horns have been dazzling audiences on stage and on record. We now have the opportunity to listen to their music on CD, along with their closest friends in business. John Mills and Mark Kazanoff (aka John Mills) have been producing and backing many blues, soul and rock bands. They’ve incited Bonnie Raitt and Dr. John as well as Los Lobos and the Allman Brothers Band, and created their spontaneous horn section magic at various stages across North America. These men have been the stars at major festivals in Chicago, Ottawa, and Portland. Kaz performs his harmonica and tenor sax, and Kaz sings. John plays his swinging bari-sax, while Al uses his trusty trumpet. They bring new life to songs like “Caldonia” and “People Get Ready” and introduce their own material. (Listen to “Soul Stroll”, “Kick Me Again”, or “Blues Gotta Hold on Me”) These guys are great at playing, romping and stomping, and they still have the classic horn sound of the 40s and 50s. The rhythm section features Austin blues legends Barry “Frostyā€¯ Smith (drums), and Derek O’Brien(guitar), with special guests including Marcia Ball and W.C. Clark, Nick Conolly and Roscoe Beck.
