The Wrong Object

The music of the Wrong Object combines the cosmic energies and nu-jazz with modern rock sensibilities, live eletronic instruments, and live rock sensibilities. It is influenced by a wide range of artists, including Squarepusher, Bela bartok, AmonTobin, Aka moon, Charlie Mingus, Frank Zappa, and Squarepusher. Their repertoire consists mainly of original compositions. However, they can also play Zappa covers upon request. Since its creation in early 2002, The Wrong Object has has collaborated with guest musicians such as Ed Mann, Elton Dean, Harry Beckett, Annie Whitehead, Alex Maguire, Robin Verheyen, Steven Delannoye, Bart Maris, Marc Mangen, Domgue, Marco Maurizi, Nicolas Ankoudinoff, Clementine Gasser, Frogg Cafe, Jaap Blonk, and pataphysician-poet-vocalist Andrew Norris, whose work with the band culminated in a show held at the Galerie 2016 in Brussels on the occasion of Serge Vandercam’s 79th birthday. The Wrong Object has toured extensively throughout many countries, including England, France, Italy and Slovakia. They have also performed in France, Germany, France and Italy. The Wrong Object feat. Elton Dean are their side projects. Two CDs were released by Voiceprint and Moonjune Records containing the recordings of Annie Whitehead and Harry Beckett. The Wrong Object’s internationally-acclaimed studio album, Stories from the Shed, was released by Moonjune Records in 2008 and led to several European tours whoses repertoire was documented in Live at Zappanale (2010), which featured Stanley Jason Zappa on guest saxophone.
