Tied And Tickled Trio

Tied Tickled Trio, a German group, is allegedly named after a Japanese sex technique. They aim to combine elements of electronic music with more traditional, familiar aspects of contemporary jazz. The original trio was formed in 1994 by Notwist members Markus (drums and programming) and Micha (trumpet, upright basse) but soon grew to include other players from Weilheim, Germany, which is a crowded (and side-project-heavy). Johannes Enders (tenor and piano), Andreas Gerth, (keyboards, theremin and other sundry items), Christoph Brander (drums) and Christoph Brander were all part of the band’s 1998 self-titled debut. This dark affair successfully combined their love for Bluenote jazz, plaintive, and digital texturing. The band returned to the stage with EA1 EA2 after a brief break in 1999, largely so Markus could record with Lali Puna, a newly formed electronic group. This critically-acclaimed album would expand on their original mission statement and incorporate a more ambitious production ethic. It would also result in a successful European tour, as well as a remix album on Morr Music. In 2001, the band released Electric Avenue Tapes, their third album.
