Tom Kennedy

Tom Kennedy is a talented touring and studio musician and one of the best acoustic/electric bass players in the entire world. He has recorded and performed with many of the world’s most prominent musicians and contemporary stars. Tom began his musical journey with the acoustic basse, which he played at age 9. He was able to play it so well that he performed with international players like Nat Adderly and Stan Kenton. When he started playing electric bass at age 17, Tom created a musical alter ego. He was intrigued by the infinite possibilities of the electric bass and began to develop his signature style. It is described as deep, soulful grooves that blend seamlessly with acrobatic soloing. Tom quickly established a reputation in St. Louis and was soon hired by multiple bands. Additional accolades were earned through a recording session with Bill Connors, tenor saxophonist Michael Brecker and tours with the jazz-fusion band Steps Ahead. Further tours and recordings were made with Brazilian pianist Tania Mari and guitarist Al DiMeola. Tom was a member of Dave Weckl’s Modern Drummer Hall of Fame band in 1998. This group he had toured, recorded and composed with for more than nine years. Dave Grusin, Mike Stern, Didier lockwood, Lee Ritenour, and Tom have continued to record and perform together on various projects. Tom has recorded and performed with some of the most prominent contemporary musicians, including Steve Gadd and Frank Gambale, Steve Lukather and Steve Lukather. In 2013, featuring Renee Rosnes, Lee Ritenour and George Garzone. Points of View was his most recent solo album, which he released in 2017.
