Tom Tallitsch

Saxophonist, Pianist. Composer and clarinetist. Music Educator and Host of “The Modern Jazz Radio Show”, Tom performs in jazz clubs throughout NYC, Philadelphia, and the east coast. The venues include Smalls Jazz Club and The 55 Bar, Birdland and Minton’s as well as Chris’ Jazz Cafe, Chris’ Jazz CafĂ©, Arts Council Of Princeton, WhyNot Jazz Rooms, Cornelia Street Cafes, Cornelia Street Cafes, The Garage, Bar Next Door Paris Bistro, South Jazz Club and many others. As a leader or sideman, he frequently tours the United States. His compositions and arrangements have been played by singers and musicians in New York and Philadelphia. Additionally, Tom’s works were performed at showcase venues by individual choreographers by the Martha Graham Dance Company. His wife Carrie Ellmore Talitsch founded the multi-media dance company Big Sky Project. He is also its musical director and composer. Big Sky’s mission statement is “Grassroots Community Fellowship.” It gathers community and all the skills and resources available to barter, creating commerce, self-sufficiency, art, and economic opportunity in a village. Big Sky is working on one project at a time. His mission is to instigate the healing of the environment where we all live through innovative, experimental and artistic philosophy. Tom is a well-respected music tutoring company in Princeton, NJ. He is also a jazz educator and clinician. He teaches piano at The Princeton Junior School and is a piano teacher for students with autism at The Princeton Child Development Institute. He was The Central NJ Homeschool Bands’ founder and Artist Faculty at Mercer County Community College. He has also taught at The Westminster Conservatory and Philadelphia Clef Club, Creative Music Studios and The Groove Academy. He is a talented music educator and has presented clinics and lectures at top high schools, including The Lawrenceville School or The Pennington School. His students have gone on to become conservatory professionals across the country. After a brief break, Tom returned to The Modern Jazz Radio Show on Mercer County Jazz Station WWFM Jazzon2 89.1HD2 on Thursdays from Noon to One. From 2007 to 2012, Tom hosted the show each week. He currently lives in Hopewell, NJ and was born in Cleveland, Ohio. He also has lived in Cincinnati, Philadelphia and Hamilton, NJ and holds a Bachelors of Music degree in Jazz Studies from University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.
