Tomek Grochot

Born: April 13, 1973 Instrument: Drums Tomek Grochot – drummer/percussionist/composer. Classically trained and independent musician who plays jazz and other jazz-related music. In 1999, he graduated from the Academy of Music in Krakow. He is currently working on a project that features his own compositions. They were first performed in 2006 at a concert in Studio S-5, Cracow Radio. The music of Grochot and all the performers, a group of well-known Polish jazzmen, were received with great enthusiasm by both critics and audience. You can find more information about this event at the Cracow Radio concert archives. Tomek Grochot’s 2008 solo album features Eddie Henderson, a jazz legend on trumpet and fluegelhorn. There are also great Polish musicians: Adam Pieronczyk (saxophones), Dominik Wania (piano and Rhodes piano) and Robert Kubiszyn (double bass). Tomek Grochot, a drummer, is the composer of all 10 tracks. The Tomek Grochot Quintet’s “My Stories” album features music that was inspired by extraordinary experiences and trips to unusual places. It’s a personal, emotional journey through special moments such as waiting for the birth and visiting Mexico to see his first son. Tomek Grochot was a sideman for many of the top Polish jazz musicians, including Janusz Muniak and Leszek Kulakowski (album “Vis a Vis”), Jarek Smietana, Krzesimir Decski, Piotr Wojtasik. He has recorded and performed with Kroke for the past few years. He was a part of Nigel Kennedy’s “East Meets East”, “Nigel Kennedy plays Jimi Hendrix”, and “A Very Nice Album”, which he also performed with Berliner Philharmoniker. Allabout Jazz
