Tommy Potter

Charles Thomas Potter was born in Philadelphia, September 21, 1918 and died March 1, 1988. He was a jazz double-bass player. Potter is best known for being a member Charlie Parker’s “classic quint” with Miles Davis between 1947 and 1950. He had played his first time with Parker in 1944 in Billy Eckstine’s band with Lucky Thompson, Dizzy Gillespie and Art Blakey. Potter recorded and performed with many other jazz musicians including Bud Powell, Bud Shaw, Count Basie and Stan Getz. Wikipedia
