Trevor Anderies’ musical direction is defined by determination, innovation, and passion. He is based in Los Angeles and performs on the local and national stage with many groups, including Slumgum and the Walsh Set Trio. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Jazz Studies from the California Institute of the Arts. There he learned drum set from Joe LaBarbera, and Ewe music form Alfred Ladzekpo, a Ghanaian master drummer. Bennie Maupin and Darek Oles were Trevor’s mentors. He has performed with many artists, including Hugh Ragin and Ron Miles, Dwight Trible as well as Hugh Ragin, Nestor Torres, Nestor Coryell, Eric Gunnison, Larry Coryell and Charlie Haden’s Liberation Orchestra. Trevor was invited to the 17th Annual IASJ Conference in Siena. There, 26 teachers and students from 26 countries performed original material. He was also accepted to the JAS Academy Summer Program led by Christian McBride, along with his band Slumgum. He was selected to play Ewe drums for Sandeep Bhagwati’s inter-disciplinary work, “Vineland Stelae”, which brought together some of the most talented musicians from all over the globe.
