Trio Da Paz

Matta said that Trio da Paz members began performing together in 1985, “just for fun”. The trio was founded in 1989. The trio has released four solo albums, with Duduka da Foseca playing drums and percussion, Romero Lubambo playing guitars, and Nilson Matta playing bass. They have also released an album together with Kenny Barron, and they have been featured on a variety of other albums. Fonseca started playing drums at the age of 12 years. Before joining Trio da Paz, he formed the New York Samba Band. He has performed with many artists, including Eliane Elias and Mauro Senise as well as Randy Brecker, Tom Jobim and Herbie Mann. He has presented workshops in Europe, Japan, and is the author of Brazilian Rhythms For Drumset (Warner Bros. 1993). Lubambo began his musical career at the age of 13. He was part of the New York Samba Band and Cama de Gato. He has performed with Astrud Gilberto and Herbie Mann, as well as Kathleen Battle, Paquito D’Rivera and Harry Belafonte. He also has albums with Gil Goldstein and Rildo Hora. Matta, who has been playing bass since the age of 10, completes the group with his extensive experience as a well-respected bassist. He has performed with Joao Gilberto and Joao Buarque as well as Joao Bosco, Chico Buarque and Joao Andrade. Matta was also a member Cama de Gato, Pascoal Meireles, and Mauro Senise.
