Trio X (of Sweden)

Trio X is one the most prominent improvisational groups in Sweden. The trio’s unique feature is their exploratory and boundary-crossing style of music. Experienced musicians can find inspiration from many different genres. Joakim Ekberg, Per V Johansson and Lennart Simonsson began collaborating in 2002. They have since made many recordings, collaborated with many well-known artists, and toured both in Sweden and internationally. Trio X is a multifaceted ensemble that collaborates on many projects. They perform in jazz clubs, concert halls and major festivals, as well as in classrooms. They also perform in hospitals and care institutions. They also inspire and teach amateur groups. Svante Henryson is a cellist, Dan Laurin is a recorder player, Georg Wadenius is a guitarist, Mikael Samson sings, and Magnus Lindgren is a saxophonist. They have worked with choirs like Orphei Dangar and orchestras such as Uppsala Chamber Orchestra. The trio has toured Estonia several times with Lembit Saarsalu (Estonian saxophone virtuoso), including the dance production Changing Images. This is based on music from Trio X. www.miu.se
