Tumi Mogorosi

After having been exposed to jazz, Tumi Mogorosi decided to record his first album, Project Elo. His idea was to integrate jazz and choral classic music. A jazz sextet is composed of 4 chorally-trained vocalists. The album contains 7 original songs that are true expressions of Tumi Mogorosi. Because of the interplay between the instruments, the music is classified as jazz. Project Elo’s original songs can be described as very spiritual and earthy. It is evident that South African music has influenced the album. Because of the repetitive and simple melody, the music has a trans-like feel. Project Elo is breath-takingly different. Tumi Mogorosi has performed in various locations across South Africa. His other performances include The Freedom in Jazz Movement, Gabi (Vocalist), and Tumi (drummer) duo, The Trip, also known as Gabi, The Quintet, The Freedom in Jazz Movement, and Queentet. The African Freedom Station, Corporate gigs at Transnet, Standard Bank Jazz Festival, Nikies Oasis and Wish, The Loft, The Big Band Orchestra, and the Standard Bank Jazz Festival are his performance venues.
