Tunnels is a group of innovative musicians that produced sounds at the edge of jazz. They were the brainchild Marc Wagnon, a Swiss vibraphonist/percussionist, and Percy Jones (bassist), who was an integral part of the band’s first album, With Percy Jones, which was released in 1994. Drummer Frank Katz, and multi-instrumentalist and composer Van Manakas were also brought on board and helped develop the spastic fusion style that would be evident on Tunnels’ second album, Painted Rock, which was released by Wagnon’s label, Buckyball Music, in 1999. Progressivity was released in 2002, and featured prominent appearances by John Goodsall as guitarist and Mark Feldman as violinist. Allmusic
