Twin Danger

You don’t hear cocktail jazz very often in pop music these day. Twin Danger, a duo also known as Twin Danger, is making waves with their debut album and live performances. Stuart Matthewman, a saxophonist, is familiar with the scene. He co-wrote many of Sade’s biggest hits like “No Ordinary Love” or “Your Love Is King”. Matthewman’s newest singer is Vanessa Bley (daughter of Paul Bley, a jazz pianist). Their live performances are characterized by a punk-inspired approach to performance that is hidden behind their polished exterior. Matthewman said to NPR’s Arun Rash, “We always stated about how we wanted our band to look on stage: If Frank Sinatra were in The Clash.” The name Twin Danger was created by Vanessa Bley. She explained why she chose the name Twin Danger: “In Manhattan I’d go this bar near 21st u0026 Park. All these businessmen would arrive in suits at 6 a.m. They would go down to the basement, then come back up an hour later in complete drag for this amazing party. This is a great example of the idea that you can have two sides. From www.npr.org
