Universal Indians

Universal Indians is an American saxophonist John Dikeman, based in Amsterdam, and the powerful rhythm section of Jon Rune Strom (Norwegian bassist) and Tollef Ostvang (drummer); both are also managers of Stone Floor Records. The trio’s definition of contemporary free improvised jazz is muscular, passionate, raw, and intense. There is no leader, and the music is created with tight, immediate, and supportive interplay. They are influenced by the free jazz pioneers Cecil Taylor and Albert Ayler, as well as the saxophonists John Coltrane and Peter Brotzmann. However, they have their own distinct voices. http://joemcphee.com
