Vertical Current is an emerging band, and a favorite of music lovers in Philadelphia, one of America’s most musical cities. Christopher Stevens, a local composer and trumpeter, started the band in 2009. He was also pursuing a Temple University music degree. Vertical Current has been the preferred band for visiting artists, from Grammy Award winner Chrisette Michele to Kelly Price to the amazing Frank McComb. The band has also opened for many notable artists, including Raheem deVaughn, Eric Roberson, and The Robert Glasper Experiment. Vertical Current’s members have been on tour with a variety of award-winning artists, including Roberta Flack and John Legend. Vertical Current’s love for performing and creating at the highest levels is evident from their interactions with so many talented composers and artists. VC’s music blends many genres to inspire and uplift. Their classic style is marked by strong melodies and lively rhythms. There are currently 4 albums by the band. Vertical Current’s many incarnations are shown in aRe (2011) and Bright Side Of Midnight (2014) as well as After Midnight (2017). The Future Is Bright (2018) is their fourth installment.
