When you hear Vladimir Alfonseca’s soft, warm sound enter your ears, you know you are listening. His other pieces are played on a classical nylon-stringed guitar. It is easy to see how his electric tone mimics that gentle classical sound. Alfonseca studied composition and arrangement at Escuela Superior de Musica. He is now a frequent performer in Mexico City. “Modi” is his piece. His mellow tones are combined with an intricate arrangement that stretches in and out over different time signatures and metres.
