Vladimir Volkov

Vladimir Volkov started playing jazz in the late 1970s. He was a member of the famous duet with Slava Guyvoronsky, Russia’s most talented trumpet player. Volkov can play all kinds of music. He can play avant-garde music with the Moscow Composers Orchestra, world music with Vershki-Da-Koreshki, high-energy guitar “new Jazz” with VolkovTrio, traditional and modern jazz with Igor Butman and Andrei Kondakov. He is a true virtuoso and energetic performer in all styles. It’s remarkable. In the early 1990s, Russian critics voted him the best double bass player in the ex-USSR.
