Volker Engelberth

Engelberth was born in Cologne and studied classical piano from age seven. He then moved to jazz piano with Professor Joerg Riter, at Mannheim’s state-lichen Academy of Music and Performing Arts. This arrangement lasted from 2004 to 2009. He was also taught by John Taylor, Frank Hubert Nuss Chastenier. Engelberth is a scholar of Baden-Wuerttemberg’s Arts Foundation since 2011. From 2005 to 2008, he was part of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of NY and was also a member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra of Baden-Wuerttemberg (BuJazzO), which was led by Marko Lackner, Peter Herbolzheimer and Bill Dobbins. Neben seinem Hauptprojekt, the Volker Engelberth Trio, he also plays in a duo and band called “mit4spiel5”. He can also be heard as a sideman with Thomas Stabenow in various jazz projects. Engelberth is also a teacher of jazz piano at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart.
