Vula Viel

Vula Viel (vU’la vi:’el) is an acronym for Good Is Good in Dagaare. This language is the language spoken by the Upper West Ghana tribe where Bex Burch lived and farmed for three years. It is now the name of her band, which features the best young musicians in London: Dan Nicholls on bass synth/keys and George Crowley on sax. Also, Dave De Rose and Simon Roth are the drummers. Vibes players Jim Hart (and Stephen Burke) are the other members. Their rhythmic music is a mix of electronica, African and minimalist influences. Vula Viel, whose music is based around the Gyil (a Dagaare xylophone made from sacred lligawood), brings ancient Dagaare music to the 21st century. The resulting music will intrigue, excite and engage your soul. Their debut album, Good is Good, is an amazing sound. Visit www.vulaviel.com
