Wayne Goins is Director of Jazz Studies and has performed with Kenny Burrell as well as Bobby Watson, Jimmy McGriff, and other musicians. Goins has extensive experience in Boston, Chicago and Atlanta. He also teaches guitar at Kennesaw State University, Emory University and Morehouse College. Goins is the author of three books: A Biography Of Charlie Christian (2006), The Jazz Band Director’s Handbook(2003) and Emotional Response To Music: Pat Metheny’s Hidden Story (2001). [Edwin Mellen Press]. The Wise Improbator, a college textbook about jazz improvisation, was published by Goins in 2006. Goins started Little Apple Records, his record label. He released West Coast Swing and Standard Fare, Smokin’ At The Oak Bar, Smokin’ with The B3, Bluesin’ With The B3, and Bluesin’With The B3, as well as Chronicles of Carmela. These albums were released in the early 2011s. Goins has published numerous articles for Jazz Inside magazine and Jazz Ambassador.
